C Harmonic Minor

C Harmonic Minor

4,478

The C Harmonic Minor scale is one of the classical scales in Western music theory, but in handpans it’s prized for its blend of the familiar (minor) with the exotic (raised 7th), that major seventh gives a signature pull to resolve to the root.

MAG Instruments C Harmonic Minor handpans are created by our master tuners in the MAG workshop according to the highest musical and technical standards using our strict quality control system.

About the C Harmonic Minor

Sound:

  • Minor mood (melancholic, introspective) plus tension / drama from the raised 7th
  • Can sound somewhat Middle‑Eastern / classical / Spanish / flamenco when used melodically

Structure:

  • The 3rd is minor, the 7th is major, that interval difference is what defines the scale
  • In many handpans, the raised 7th might appear as the note just below the root, or as a note that resolves nicely in melody.
